David Fuscus is president and CEO of Xenophon Strategies, a highly focused public relations firm serving many of the world’s largest companies and organizations. Xenophon has key practices in public affairs, public relations, digital/social and crisis communications. Fuscus also writes and blogs frequently on subjects such as corporate communications, cyber security, crisis communications and other topics.
Since Fuscus founded Xenophon in 2000, the company has grown into a leading Washington, D.C. communications firm and has worked for numerous corporations and trade associations including The Virgin Group, Airbus, The Salvation Army, The Centers for Disease Control, the U.S Coast Guard and Williams-Sonoma.
Fuscus is heavily involved in crisis communications and has worked with the media on major national and international crises, including representing the airline industry following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and playing a key communications role in seventeen major airline accidents from 1996 through 2018. He has worked on fourteen major U.S. hurricanes including Katrina, during which he was in New Orleans twelve hours after the levies broke coordinating media communications for The Salvation Army. Recently, Fuscus lead the team that worked on Hurricanes Irma and Harvey for major energy and aviation clients. Xenophon is also a major player in product recalls, privacy issues, corporate malfeasance and high-profile litigation
Fuscus is noted for his strategic public relations skills. While responsible for the management of the overall firm, Fuscus also leads an account team representing major American and European corporations and trade associations. He is a frequent commentator in the press and has appeared numerous times on major news networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, CNBC and Fox.
Fuscus was also the Chief Spokesman for the U.S. airline industry when he served as the head of communications for the Air Transport Association. In this position, he was responsible for developing and implementing overall airline industry communications efforts, was a key political strategist for the ATA and both designed and implemented numerous major public affairs campaigns.
Fuscus also has enjoyed a successful career in politics. He was Deputy Chief of Staff to former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge. Fuscus served as a key political and media adviser to the governor and was the Deputy Director of Ridge’s first election campaign and transition committee. Prior to his tenure with Gov. Ridge, Fuscus spent nine years working in Congress as Director of Public Affairs for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and as Deputy Chief of Staff and Press Secretary to Rep. William F. Clinger.
Public relations and public affairs campaigns designed by Fuscus have won numerous awards, including the Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil Award, the Thoth Award for Best External PR Campaign and the Thoth Best of Show Award for the year’s top public relations campaign.
Fuscus is a member of the Board of Directors of The Royal Aeronautical Society, is a past member of the Board of the public relations industry’s trade association, the PR Council.
