Tonia E. Ries is Executive Director of intellectual property at Edelman, a role that includes stewardship of the Edelman Trust Barometer, now in its 19th year, the Earned Brand research into consumer relationships with brands, as well as the development of new research initiatives. She leads the firm’s global knowledge agenda across practices, geographies and clients, and acts as a catalyst for new thinking and discourse on business in a multi-stakeholder society.
Tonia has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, research, strategy and media. From 2002 until 2014, she led Modern Media, an agency she founded to help media companies and marketers innovate in a changing market. She created and produced The Realtime Report and Conferences, focused on the business use of the social, mobile and real time web. Before founding Modern Media, Tonia served as a publishing and marketing executive for a series of business-to-business media brands such as Information Week and PC Magazine.
Tonia regularly speaks at industry events and has been quoted on topics such as trust and the business impact of media transformation by news outlets such as The New York Times and NPR.
